Job Opportunity: Scientific-Technical Activities Staff (Doctor) – Project "Communication, Journalism, and Disinformation in the Challenges of Society"

Our research group- MediaLab- is seeking a dynamic and motivated professional to join our team as a Staff for Scientific-Technical Activities (Doctor) for the exciting project, "Communication, Journalism, and Disinformation Challenges in the Society." This project investigates the critical role of media and communication in shaping public discourse and addressing contemporary societal challenges.


Application period:  03/12/2024 and 10/12/2024, both inclusive.

Position Title: Scientific-Technical Activities Staff (Doctor)

Location: Department of Communication, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Getafe Campus.

Nature of Contract: Part-time (20 hours per week)

Salary (gross): 1,206.51 per month

Number of payments: 14


Key Tasks to be performed:

  • Support for research activities (content analysis, interviews, focus groups, surveys, results analysis, etc.)

  • Participate in the preparation of research proposals together with national and international consortia.

  • Support in the dissemination of research results and organisation of seminars, conferences or congresses.

  • Technical and scientific support to the members of the research group.


Qualifications/requirements:

General

  • Have Spanish nationality or any other nationality to which the State regulations attribute equal rights for the purposes of working in the Public Administration.

  • Possess the functional capacity to perform tasks.

  • Be at least sixteen years of age and not exceed, where applicable, the maximum mandatory retirement age.

  • Not having been dismissed from the service of any of the Public Administrations or the constitutional or statutory bodies of the Autonomous Communities through disciplinary proceedings, nor being absolutely or specially disqualified from public employment or office by court order, from accessing the civil service corps or scale, or from exercising functions similar to those they performed in the case of labour personnel, from which they had been dismissed or disqualified.


Technical

  • A PhD degree from an accredited university in social sciences will be valued (preferably journalism, audiovisual communication, advertising and public relations, as well as documentation and digital content management).

  • In addition, experience in: 1) management of research projects; 2) coordination of teams/people; 3) organisation of events/conferences/congresses (for example: member of the organising or scientific committee); 4) professional experience in the media or in communication departments of organisations; 5) presentation of papers/communications at international conferences; 6) publication of scientific articles or book chapters will also be valued as priority merits. Likewise, command of English and/or French will be valued as priority merits.


About the Project

The project "Communication, Journalism, and Disinformation in the Challenges of Society" explores how modern communication technologies and journalism practices influence the spread of disinformation and affect public trust. Our research aims to inform policies and create strategies for mitigating the negative impact of disinformation on democratic institutions. MediaLab UC3M is dedicated to advancing knowledge in communication, media studies, and public engagement. We collaborate with national and international partners to address pressing societal issues and foster innovation in media research.
